The French Revolution was triggered by the storming of the Bastille, and the release of prisoners. It was an insurrection of the common people (third estate) over royalty (first estate). Unlike the American revolution, it quickly descended into terror, guillotines and murder.
Nonetheless, the storming of the Bastille is still celebrated in France as “Fete National”. The French Revolution is one of the most important events in human civilization to learn and understand. How quickly a good idea can be overwhelmed by the mob (jacobins). Only the dictatorship of Napoleon ended the revolutionary madness. It is huge contrast to American Revolution, Declaration of Independence and Constitution.
Be Brave. Another revolution is happening in 2020.
