The EU published a comic book in 2012- essentially predicting a pandemic- complete with a “live food market”, a “lockdown” and best part a rescue by the “EU officials”. You can read pdf book here. Why would the EU be publishing a comic book? rather than a scientific paper, or policy paper?… because they believe their citizens are too fearful to read about a pandemic in somber terms. The citizens would be too scared to learn about pandemics which occur regularly in history. Instead the EU uses a “comic format” to present information to their fragile citizens. Your mother is one of those fragile people. Unable to face reality, anxious and fearful.
